What is Amber? Amber is the fossilzed resin of trees that are now extinct. Millions of years ago, large pine-like trees seeped sticky resin which oozed down the sides of the trees trapping debris, such as seeds, leaves, feathers, insects and small animals. As geologic time progressed the forests were buried and the resin hardened into soft, warm, golden gems, known as amber. Most of the world's amber is in the range of 30-90 mllion years old. Most amber in Western Europe comes from countries surrounding the Baltic Sea. | | | | |
