What is Amber?
Amber is the fossilized resin of trees that are now extinct. Millions of years ago, large pine-like trees seeped sticky resin which, oozed down the sides of the trees trapping debris, such as seeds, leaves, feathers, insects, and small animals. As geologic time progressed, the forests were buried, and the resin hardened into soft, warm, golden gems known as amber. Most of the world's amber is in the range of 30-90 million years old. Most amber in Western Europe comes from countries surrounding the Baltic Sea.
Due to its organic nature, the color of amber varies depending on the types of foreign matter trapped by the resin. Colors of amber include yellow, orange, red, white, brown, green, bluish, and “black” (dark shades of other colors). Amber can be cloudy or clear. Clear amber contains debris and insects, but cloudy amber does not. The cloudiness is caused by millions of microscopic air bubbles, a high content of which can make it white.

Amber Properties
Its color, warmth, and electric properties have given amber a reputation as a protective, magical substance. It is claimed that it can help with throat infections, bronchial and intestinal disorders, asthma, convulsions, rheumatism, earache, bladder trouble, nerves or bone-morrow deficiencies. It is said to absorb negative energy and help the body heal itself. It is used for making and breaking spells. Also, it is said to help with depression and suicidal tendencies. For thousands of years, amber has been burned as incense during spiritual or religious events.
Amber serves as a symbol of renewal in marriage and continued fidelity. The gem enhances one's ability to express feminine energies. When worn, amber is said to purify the mind and body. It also enhances the ability to recall specific instances of past lives. It is said that amber allows the body to heal by absorbing and transmitting negative energy into positive energy.
Amber is said to balance moods, instill confidence in the wearer, ease depression and anxiety.
